Tata Institute of Social Sciences

The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) was established in 1936 as the Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work. In 1944, it was renamed as the Tata Institute of Social Sciences. The year 1964 was an important landmark in the history of the Institute, when it was declared Deemed to be a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act (UGC), 1956. Since its inception, the Vision of the TISS has been to be an institution of excellence in higher education that continually responds to changing social realities through the development and application of knowledge, towards creating a people-centred, ecologically sustainable and just society that promotes and protects dignity, equality, social justice and human rights for all.

Eligibility

The minimum eligibility criterion for admission to Ph.D. in Hospital Administration is mentioned below:; Applicants should hold a Master's degree or M.Phil in Hospital Administration a minimum of 55% aggregate and above from a recognized university.; They should have relevant work experience of 5 years as professionals in a senior position.; They are required to pass the entrance examination such as NET/ PET, etc. with a valid score.; Some of the reputed colleges and universities may conduct interviews for selection of candidates.

Management and Labour Studies APPLY FOR THIS COURSE

Eligibility

Master's degree with minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 6.0 on a 10 point scale, or 60% marks for the General, GEN-EWS and OBC category. For SC / ST or PWD candidates, the minimum CGPA requirements may be relaxed to 5.50 on a 10 point scale or to 55% marks.

Public health APPLY FOR THIS COURSE

Eligibility

Master's Degree in relevant field which includes Public Health, Medicine, Social Sciences and allied subjects in which he/she wishes to pursue research with at least 55% or equivalent grade from any University in India, recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Eligibility

Those possessing MARD with B grade are included as a category eligible for enrolment in Ph.D. Programme in Rural Development, provided they submit two papers on their chosen subject for Ph.D. and subject to their acceptance by the Doctoral Committee. Those who possess M.Phil in any subject, (other than Rural Development) may take three compulsory courses; namely; MRD-101 Rural Development-Indian Context MRD-103 Rural Development Planning & Management MRD-104 Research Methods in Rural Development.

Eligibility

The candidates need to complete their master degree course from a recognized university with a minimum of 55% marks. For those institutes which conduct an entrance test, the students must also clear the common entrance test with the desired percentage.

Eligibility

MPhil and a Post-Graduate degree in Social Work with minimum fifty-five percent marks (fifty percent marks for SC/ST/PH candidates) or an equivalent grade from a university or a recognized institution of higher learning.OR Masters degree in Social Work with minimum fifty-five percent marks (fifty percent marks for SC/ST/PH candidates) or an equivalent grade from a university or a recognised institution of higher learning and five years of teaching/research/extension/ administration/health care/ social welfare/professional experience at senior level.
